Notes from the source —
The Golden Galleon
Source: My Little Pony comic #38 (G1)
Comments: I love, love, loooove the art in this one, especially the galleon and the baby sea ponies.
The Sea Wizard bears a resemblance to the version of Pyro from the 90s X-Men cartoon.

Pony feathers, just look at those four ships <del>on the cover1</del> <ins>in Majesty’s book of Ponyland’s enemies</ins>. She has records on all of these nutters, and this is why you keep deep institutional knowledge around in statecraft. I love the “Majesty knew of old” turn of phrase.
BTW, King Neptune’s chariot is normally depicted as being pulled by spirited white horses frothing out of the tops of wave crests and generally looking awesome2. Neptune must have wanted to avoid offending a powerful and terrifying ally this time though, hence him substituting those dolphin/shark draft animals.

[2] If I remember my hand-me-down Rupert the Bear annuals correctly. The format resemblance to these older MLP comic stories is striking.
