There he is. That alien creature, browsing the field and grazing under the autumn wind. I slowly approached him as I got bathed in his pervading glow.
“Hi, big guy,” he greeted. “I’m Double Diamond. How are you doing? Wanna bro-hoof?”
“Nothing special,” I responded, and returned to his gesture by bumping his hoof. “I want to know more about star-ponies, since you are one. Where do you live? Who rules your country? And why do you glow and leave yourself to enemies?”
“I don’t know where exactly I was born, or whether I’m a star-pony or not,” he responded, “but my home is in a town in northern Equestria, near the slopes of the Crystal Mountains, where I spent my childhood in skiing. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna rule my country, and I’m just born to shine.”
“If you are not a star pony, why do you shine? Star-ponies do that.”
“I don’t know, but I think it is nice.”
Behind the two of us, my friend Julius was loading some tranquiliser darts to his rifle, and aiming it at the white horse in front of me. But his concentration was interrupted when we heard explosions and laser shots to our right — Drogo, one of my accomplices, is being chased by three robotic droids for tampering with an artifact stolen from an ancient ruin belonging to their civilisation. And just under Julius’ window, a blonde pony attacks two robot horses, supposedly for stealing their hat.
And as for Julius himself, he was tackled by a chubby purple mare with wings, who yowled and beat him up.
“Someone!” he cried, as his words are broken by the sound of mischievous giggling and smashed objects. “Help me!”
As I forgot to turn my device off, the white pony heard him speak through the speaker. But what caught his attention was its insignia painted on its speaker.
“You’re part of the Starhunters?” he asked. Now he angrily looked at me, as though I am now a monster. “They hunt and kill any pony that shines by themselves, just to harvest them for starship fuel!”
“I just joined Julius’ squad to find star-ponies like you, because they are so rare. How can I find any other way to find you guys.”
“Just because I can shine by myself like a star-pony, doesn’t mean I’m one. I might as well be a half-star.”
“But, I can help you!” I pleaded. I feared that I might lose this only chance to see a live star-pony as him, for his species has been hunted to near-extinction.
The furious white pony stamped his hoof, and glared at me. His light became more fierce and hot, that I had to step back and look away. He no longer looked like a pony, but perhaps as a little raging sun in all of his fury.
“If you want to find me again, quit your blood-stained squad, and go on your own ship far away from the Starhunters’ reach to the Equestria System, where you can find me and my friends. Over here on Terra, they’re using you as their bait for them to come and find me!”
“But, I also want to know more. You can take me to Equestria, since you can fly in space!”
“You’ll be gone anyways, either from the lack of air, or from my light burning you to a crisp. Now LEAVE ME ALONE!”
And Double Diamond shot into the sky, leaving behind a blinding shockwave that fried his former location (and half of my torso), sending my body slamming against the house behind me. When I got back up, he was gone, but in his place were several dancing flames feeding on some objects that still remained.
I tried looking for Julius upstairs and calling for his name, but there was only silence, and when I reached at his location, he was gone. However, something tapped behind me. It was perhaps the same angry blonde mare that attacked the robots’ picnic for stealing her hat, and now she pinned me against the wall.
“Where do you think those varmints took my hat to?!”
(PS I usually use Epona models to represent actual horses, who are stock characters in my kind of stories, as the only other models in GMOD are currently either MLPFIM ponies, a statue, or zebras, as far as I know)
