My reasoning being that since, on the Official Map of Equestria, a fair number of the place names are puns based on places in the US, and their locations on the continent are roughly equivalent to the locations of the places their based on, then the Griffin Kingdom across the eastern sea would be some reinterpretation of Great Britain. Hence: Loondon, Eagleland. Not mentioned are the kingdoms of Quilbry (Cymru/Wales), Aviaba (Alba/Scotland) and Airjre (Éire/Ireland).
