Description:
“Mommy!? Daddy!?” Flurry screamed, her words being drowned out by the wind. She shivered as the merciless snow tried to bury her under it’s heavy fall. Still, the filly placed one hoof in front of the other. The cold was starting to make her body numb. She had even had to tuck her wings under her coat to keep them from leaving her side.
She was scared. The carriage that had been carrying them to visit her Aunt Twilight had crashed, apparently due to the heavy winds. Even with the Crystal heart, the land outside the empire was still hostile and cruel. The little princess continued to cry out for her parents, her guards, anyone.
Please… She thought before her body gave up on her and collapsed. She tried to lift herself from the snow but she could no longer feel her legs. Tears welled up in her eyes as she let out a pitiful cry. It was unclear how long she cried but she knew the exact second she had been spotted.
Despite her body being numb, she felt a cold gaze hit her back. Instinctively, her horn glowed as she turned her head toward where she felt the gaze. She couldn’t see anything beyond the snow but knew somepony was there. Despite her being scared of what it could be, her heart soared with joy as it drew closer.
“P-please, help me!” She cried, letting her horn glow brighter so she could be seen better. “I can’t find mommy or daddy! It’s cold! I can’t move. It’s cold, its cold, it’s cold.” She sobbed, more fearful of the cold than being alone. Her body was so numb, like it wasn’t even there anymore and it scared her…
The figure, barely visible other than a tinge of dark blue, turned away. Flurry heart panicked.
“N-no, please, don’t leave me! Please!” She begged, reaching out a hoof before falling forward. Her vision got blurry as the figure moved out of sight. Still, Flurry whispered pleas continued, begging for help. Begging to be warm.
“Hey! Come on, little filly, wake up.” A voice called to her. It sounded strange to Flurry. It was gravely and deep, like the way daddy sounded when he had those smelly sticks in his mouth. Yet this voice was young and female. “Drink… Come on, you can trust me…”
Flurry let her mouth open and immediately felt something warm enter her mouth. It was water but body temperature. Flurry opened her eyes, taking the thing in front of her within her magic grasp and chugging it. The voice let out a chuckle.
“Ah! There’s that spark of life!” She laughed. “That’s what keeps ponies like us alive. The will to live.”
Flurry looked up at the pony in front of her for the first time. She was a bright pink pony with a purple and yellow mane. Her eyes were an interesting shade of blue. She looked to be older that her though she was smiling warmly, though slightly amused as well.
“You planning on leaving some for me?” she quipped, seemingly unaffected by the blistering winds that had died down somewhat. Flurry blushed, chocking a bit on the water as she tried to remember the manners Great Aunt Luna taught her. The pink filly patted her back with a wing, trying to help Flurry get the water out of her lungs. “Hey, relax, I’m not planning on taking it. I’ve got plenty.” She lifted a wing to show a few canteens, though they looked to be made of animal skin.
“W-who are you?” She asked, deciding not to ask the nice pony why she had so many canteens made of animal skin. The filly blinked at Flurry, folding her wing back.
“Me?” She replied, frowning looked out, seemingly lost in thought as she stared at the sky. “…Skyla? Yeah, I like that.” She turned back to Flurry. “I’d like to have someone to call me by a name, so you can call me ‘Skyla’.”
You know, originally, I was planing on posting this on April fools day in order to trick you guys. The idea was to have you guys assume it was a joke cause in my verse, Skyla hates Flurry Heart, so why would she ever be nice to her. Then I’d pull the rug from under your feet by revealing that this scene, is in fact, legit.
This scene is the first meeting of Skyla and Flurry Heart. This interaction is the reason Flurry believes with all her heart that Skyla is a kind pony who cares. She wants to see her savior/sister smile at her again.
